BUILDING A BETTER DISTRICT

A Movement By Citizens  Demanding Transparency, Accountability, and Community Engagement for Central CUSD 301/Burlington in the State of Illinois.Building A Better District is a taxpayer-led movement and is not affiliated with, nor endorsed by, the Illinois State or Kane County Regional Board of Education, nor any individual school district, or administration/Board of Education.

Central CUSD301 Board of Education

With busy schedules including work, school, sports, and other extracurricular activities, it can be difficult to attend every Board of Education meeting in person.  As a taxpayer and perhaps a parent of children in this district, it is crucial to find a way to stay connected to what's happening here in real time.  Take a look at the ways you can stay up to date and get involved so your voice can be heard:

Make A Statement At A Board Meeting

Public Comment takes place at the beginning of each board meeting.  Any member of the public may sign up prior to the meeting to address the Board.  Sign up happens in the foyer immediately before the meeting.  It is strongly recommended that you arrive at least 15 minutes early (5:45 PM) in order to sign up.  Board meetings begin at 6 PM.

Watch the Board Meetings Live or Watch the Playback

Can't make a board meeting?  Watch on your smartphone, your tablet, your computer, or even your television if you can stream YouTube.  The Board of Education live streams the monthly board meeting each month, making it easy to stay informed even if you can't make the meeting in person.

Review the Board Agenda Items and Attachments

5 days prior to each board meeting, the meeting Agenda and relevant attachments are made available for review on BoardBook.  You can also review the approve minutes of the previous month's meeting, as well.

We strongly encourage our community to attend Board Meetings, particularly the first 20-30 minutes to hear public comments--an important part of the communication process for the public to address the board of education and district administration.

    **TIPS**
Standard board meetings typically begin at 6 PM, however, if you wish to make a public comment, we strongly recommend arriving by 5:45 PM in order to sign up to speak. There will be a clip board and slips on the table in the entry foyer outside the meeting room. You will have 2-3 minutes to speak.
There is a train crossing right before the turn you need to make to get to South Street.  Because of this, shooting for a 5:45 PM arrival time provides extra room for delays in the event the train is coming through.
The speed limit drops to 30 MPH as you enter the village of Burlington and it is enforced!  Please allow ample time to get there with the speed limit and the train taken into consideration.
If you CANNOT attend in person, you can always watch the livestream at home or watch the recording after the meeting has concluded through the district's YouTube Channel.  From the district's YouTube channel, click on the "LIVE" link to see past meetings and to watch any meeting while in progress.
