Members of the community have reached out to us for several weeks adamant that they were told by the district during previous discussions and referendums about Central High School that it was designed to hold additional floors. This question was specifically asked of the district both in their Town Halls and as a part of the Frequently Asked Questions they refer to as "Myths vs. Facts".
We have been able to confirm through examining the architectural drawings of the original high school that Central High School can, in fact, accommodate additional floors. Why wasn't this option shared with the community? We made a $22 million investment in Central High School in 2016 with the assurance from the district and the board that the improvements made would provide 20 years of growth for the community.
Why was expanding CHS upwards NOT one of the "Considerations" presented to the mere 164 Focus Group participants in November 2022?
See below for the screen captures of the district's referendum website where they originally say CHS cannot accommodate another floor compared to February 21, 2024, where they have removed that sentence completely. Below that is a video taking you through some of the architectural plans to show where the references are to future floors.
